Instagram Algorithm

3 Reasons Why Instagram Algorithm Is A Great News

Instagram has recently announced that you will “See the Moments You Care About First” in the feed. Bye bye reverse-chronology. Instagram Algorithm is coming.

When Twitter made a similar announcement a few months ago, we hated it. Remember #RIPTwitter?

Also, when Facebook’s newsfeed algorithm decreased the organic reach, we blasted Facebook with hate messages. However, I do feel that Instagram team is on the right track here.

A lot of people are freaking out about this announcement. But, here are some reasons why I think it’s a great news for all of us

1 – Never miss an important post

There is too much content on Instagram, and it’s easy to miss the things we care about.

With this new change, Instagram will show us what they think we like the most. Obviously, it will not be perfect in the beginning, but we will see more content from our favorite people and accounts.

According to the Instagram team, “If your favorite musician shares a video from last night’s concert, it will be waiting for you when you wake up, no matter how many accounts you follow or what time zone you live in. And when your best friend posts a photo of her new puppy, you won’t miss it.”

2 – Quality over quantity

Sometimes I do hate seeing random photos in my feed. Don’t you?

With this update, brands will be forced to focus on quality content.

I am expecting to see fewer memes and promotional announcements.

I am also super excited that everybody will start producing more meaningful content on Instagram 🙂

3 – Rise of Instagram advertising

One can expect that the organic reach will go down over time and brands will be forced to use Instagram advertising.

IMHO social advertising is the future of marketing and the sooner we get comfortable with it, the better. Obviously, I hate paying for the ads. But, I do want to make sure I get the right type of followers, engagement, and clicks.

There is no doubt that Instagram and Facebook will make sh*t load of money from advertisers, but it’s OK.

For us, the cost of using the platform will go up. But, we will get the RIGHT type of followers, leads & customers for our businesses.

Now over to you.  what do you think of this announcement about the Instagram algorithm? Do you think this will improve our overall experience on the platform?
