I love testing different strategies on Instagram to see what works and what doesn’t.
So recently I did a simple experiment to test my engagement.
Before I tell you what it was, I want you to look at the results.
Note – I use Hootsuite analytics to create all of my social media reports.
In 10 days, my Instagram engagement increased by 259%.

The answer is actually very simple. I bet you can guess it without me telling you.

YES – I posted 100% video content for the last couple of weeks.
This experiment not only increased my engagement, it also brought new followers.
A couple of fans even asked me about the tool I was using. It was Adobe Spark Post.

59 percent of executives would rather watch video than read text while four times as many consumers would rather watch a video about a product then read about it.
According to 70 percent of marketers, video produces more conversions than any other type of content.
Here is how you can apply this to your own Instagram account.
- Produce lots of micro stories (short bite size videos).
- Post consistently.
- If you love being on the camera, do your own videos.
- If you are camera shy like myself, use tools like Legend or Spark Post.
